VUM 5.5 Service Crashes when manually selecting "download patches and upgrades".

Hey all,

I'm having issues with a fresh install of vCenter 5.5. This is on a Dell PowerEdge 2950 with 8GB RAM. I'm running SQL2012 Express as the back end on the same server. This is a fresh install of Windows Server 2012 Standard.

This is the 2nd time I've been able to replicate this issue. Initially I thought I screwed something up with the install and so I reformatted the box and started over again. Fresh install of SSO 5.5, vCenter 5.5, VUM 5.5. The initial patch download was successful. Each subsequent patch attempt gets to 50% in the vSphere client and the service crashes. This causes the plug-in to fail in the vSphere client as pictured below. This also happens if I do certain tasks in update manager via the web client. If I cancel the download and restart the service it will continue running without fail. I can attach the initially patched baselines and custom baselines to the datacenter / hosts and scan / patch without issue. I'm not sure where to begin looking on this and I know there are several log files. I have 2 other environments where I've done 1 fresh install and 1 upgrade and do not have this issue. I have the same software installed on the server in question that I do on the machine I upgraded. I can only assume there's a bug / driver / OS level issue going on here. Has anyone else run into this issue? It seems like I've had nothing but problems with 5.5 thus far. Any help would be appreciated.
