Hi folks.
I am part of a project to install new storage to ESX cluster on a Customer.
The responsible for the Storage device told us that the minimum configuration, which would work with their storage, is ESXi update 2. After a long discussion and conversation with our customer we decided to upgrade only the hosts to ESXi 5.0 update 3 using Vmware Update manager, because this method is moreeasilyand securely. Ok, I installed Vmware Update Manager without issues on Customer vCenter server, I Manually download de package "update-from-esxi5.0-5.0_update03" and "ESXi 5.0 Installable Update 3(CD ISO)" from Vmware download center in order to have 2 ways to accomplish the task .
I import both packages into VUM inventory without problem, and create different baselines (one for path, another for ISO File).
I Put the first host into maintenance mode. The vms were moved perfectly, server was ready.
The baseline (patch) was attached to the host.
Now the problems start.
I tried to remediate, and after 16% VUM present a unknown error, and the server was not patched.
I scanned the host and the error persists.
I checked Logs VUM Log Files, no error was presented.
Checking Vmware KB I found KB:1032444 The results
were:
1- All patches were successfully and manually download, This is not the issue.
2- Network connectivity is Ok, I can Ping, connect, check, open the host. there is no firewall between vCenter and Host.
3- Resolution name was correct configured, now I can ping the host from FQDN and Short name without problem.
4-ESXi is embendded, so it have at least 1Gb of free space on USB device.
I Tried to apply the upgrade from image installable image, and VUM said that this upgrade isan not compatible with Hosts SO.
I workedon this problemall week, but no success, the KBs, Sites and foruns I read did not give me a clue of the problem.
Can somebody help me?
