I just upgraded our vCenter 5.0 to 5.5. Now, as I upgrade our existing VUM to 5.5 I am faced with a message that indicates that I need dbo rights to the MSDE database. I approached out DBA's and they refuse to give us that permission because the dbo permission to the MSDE affects the entire enterprise.
If their refusal stands, what are my options? I'm thinking that I'll need to just create a new VUM database on another SQL server.
I guess I do not understand their reluctance to give us dbo rights?
Does the MSDE database have to be shared among all databases? Can a separate MSDE database be created for just VUM so that it does not affect other databases in the enterprise?
