Hey all - just thought I'd bounce this out here in the communities before opening a ticket with VMware.
We just implemented vSphere 5.5 here (new install - not an upgrade). Our previous experience was with vSphere 4.1 & 5.0. One thing we've noticed is that performing an Update Manager "Scan Entity" on a cluster takes a really long time to run. I recall that under vSphere 4.1/5.0 that it may take a couple of minute - I just ran a scan on a 6-node 5.5 cluster (that is not resource-constrained by any stretch) and it took 50 minutes! Is that normal? I don't think I'm doing anything out of the ordinary - I'm using a 5.5-only baseline and running Update Manager on the same server as vCenter (4 vCPU / 16 GB VM). vCenter seems to be performing OK otherwise...
Any thoughts / suggestions?
