Unable to upgrade to or install Update Manager 5.1.0 Update 2

Hi,

I previously had Update Manager 5.1 Update 1 installed and working. I have just upgraded the vcenter server to 5.1.0 Update 2 and am now trying to upgrade VUM to update 2 also. During the upgrade it kept failing on the vCenter connection screen saying that the vCenter Server username and password entered is not recognized. Now, the account is working, i am logged into the vCenter server as this account and can log into the vSphere client as this account. The account is a vCenter administrator.

I couldn't get the upgrade to work so decided to completely uninstall VUM and reinstall afresh with the update 2 version, but i get exactly the same error. I am not sure where to go with this. I have tried adifferent accounts but no joy. I get the following in the vminst.log: -

Interestingly since upgrading vCenter to 5.1 update 2, our Veeam VM backups have also started failing. It says the service account used to connect to vcenter can no longer do so. I am thinking i now have a vCenter problem rather than with update manager alone. Obviously i can live without update manager for a while but not without our Veeam backups.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Janine
